We are saddened to say that our Mother, Anne Westbrook McGinnis Mills has gone to be with her Lord and Savior, along with a celebration of her life with her mother Anne Hawkins Lowry Knowlton, and her Father Stephen T. McGinnis, and Stepfather Loper B. Lowry. We will be making arrangements in the days to come and will be sure to update the blog accordingly. WEDNESDAY Feb. 11th

Hello to all!!! We are going to discontinue updating the Blog daily as there are few marked changes that are occuring on a daily basis. Mom continues to rest comfortably at home with 24 hour home health aids that assist in all of the daily routines she needs help with. She has not been able to ambulate very much but we have enjoyed taking her on a few rides in the wheelchair around the neighborhood. She has so so so enjoyed that. She still is not able to swallow and is still suffering from the right-sided paralysis. This doesn't give her many of the normal privelages we all have. Your continued thoughts, prayers, visits, and well wishes are truly wonderful for us to share with her and each of you. Please keep her in your thoughts and we will update you as changes occur.

Regards,

John and Courtney

TUESDAY Feb. 10th

We thank all of you for the continued support and well wishes you have sent us throughout this trying and difficult time. You never really know how many people there are out there that love you until you are in such a place. Mother's friends and family continue to be a driving force behind helping Courtney and me get thru this together. Mother continues to be the same without much marked improvement. She has been able to get out of the house with the help of a wheelchair and has enjoyed many walks in the neighborhood. She spends the bulk of her day resting comfortably and watching the TV. We all know how much she enjoys the Court TV....
God bless to you all and Thank you again for the continued support you show us.

Good Morning to all you Bloggers. Mom has been evaulated by the Rehab dept. and at this time she is not medically qualified to go to the facility. She needs to show more improvement with her chest infection. She is scheduled to have a chest xray this morning and then they will decide if she is able to go home or to Rehab. Hospice has been contacted and they are doing amazing things to facilitate her to go home. They are providing all of the necessary items we will need to have her at home resting comfortably. WEDNESDAY January 28th

Moms was fast asleep when we arrived this morning. Her condition continues to be the same. She went for an MRI yesterday and we are awaiting the results from the Doctors. At this point she is still in an unstable state for the active 3 hour rehab they have here at TGH, so the decision on her further care is up in the air. She will be reevaluated for the rehab here. She is resting comfy and continues to enjoy your blogs, cards, thoughts, and prayers....

Thanks,
John and Court

TUESDAY Janury 27th

Mom is up and in bed relaxing this morning. She had a bath today and her hair was washed. We all know how good that feels. She is scheduled for a follow up MRI to confirm the "Evolution" of the Stroke. This will enable the doctors to determine the level of the damage that has occured and what the final side effect(s) will be. She will then move to either the facility here in Tampa General or to an outide facility for the rehab rgimen. If there are not any suitable places for her here in the area then he will go home for rehab at home. This all remains in the air until the results of the MRI today. Your thoughts and prayers are wonderful and appreciated....

MONDAY January 26th

I arrived this morning to find Mom sitting up in bed and having a breathing treatment. She is still suffering from right sided paralysis and is still having problems speaking. We are assessing the possibilities of moving her to a local Rehab facility today or we will take her home where she would have access to rehab. and be able to rest comfortably. The cards, pryaers, and flowers have been wonderful and we Thank You all for those kind words of encouragement and well wishes. Please keep this blog in mind for further details as we will update as we have daily.

SUNDAY January 25th

Mom has had a few set backs since last report. She has lost her ability to speak and has had some right sided paralysis. She has had another Cat Scan and the reports from that are due back on Monday AM. The doctors suspect that she has had another stroke of sorts or is having TIA's (Transient Eschemic Attacks) or mini-strokes. This is quite common with folks who have suffered a stroke. She is resting comfortably and is in no pain. We are planning on meeting with the Doctors in the AM and making some decisions for her further treatment. Your thoughts and prayers continue to be wonderful and appreciated fully.

Thanks,
John and Courtney

SATURDAY January 24th

Mom is awake and up in her bed. She was able to have a feeding tube placed yesterday without any complications. We are happy to report that the first thoughts of her having any type of cancer have been completely cleared. She has no form of Cancer. She has only suffered a stroke which we are going to go full steam ahead with rehab for. She will most likely be moved to a local facility here called Cantebury Towers where she will receive the best rehab there is. Tampa General only deals with folks who need acute rehab, and she does not meet with that criteria. Cantebury is a beautiful facility and will be able to provide to her the care and rehab that she needs. Her speech continues to be a challenging thing for her, but we are working on it every day. Thanks again for all your thoughts and prayers and continue to view this for updates and further developments.

FRIDAY January 23rd

Mom is up and alert and was resting in her chair. She is slated for a feeding tube to be placed this morning. This is temporary and will not be permanent. She is having this placed to enable her to receive nourishment while she is going thru the phases of rehab here at TGH. She will eventually be moved to the TGH Rehab Facility here on hospital property, which will provide her with continuos rehab and care for the duration it takes for her to gain a full recovery. Her spirits are high and she really wants to get out of the hospital and begin the road of recovery. Your thoughts and prayers are so wonderful and appreciated. Courtney and I both hope that you find this daily update informative and helpful in knowing how Mom is doing... Thank you all...

Your well wishes, flowers, and prayers are most appreciated. Many of you have asked for a mailing address for cards and such. Please feel free to send any correspondence via post to her home address.

THURSDAY January 22nd

We arrived to find Mom up and about sitting in her chair in the room. She has had much more improvement on her speech. She is working with Rehab Technicians to facilitate the ability to be able to swallow correctly, without complications, which would enable her to eat. This may take days or weeks but, we are working every day to achieve this goal.
Today she is being evaluated for the placement of a temporary feeding tube in her stomach. She would then be moved to the Tampa General Rehab Facility here in Davis Island where they would begin the process of working more aggressively with her on exercises that would enable her to swallow. She is in good spirits and really wants to pass the tests and be able to eat.
As we all know she loves a great lunch at Woody's. Thanks you for all the kind comments and keep them coming. She is enjoying hearing from each and every one of you.

Regards,

John C. Mills, III and Courtney Mills

On the 14th of January our Mother suffered a Stroke. She was admitted to Tampa General Hospital under the care of many wonderful Physicians and Nurses.

This website was created from the overwhelming response and well-wishes for my mother, Anne Mills. Speaking for my mother, I and our entire family sincerely appreciate all the phone calls, emails, and visits.

This site will serve as an avenue to share progress and greetings to all her friends and family.

She has made significant progress since her being admitted to the hospital and is resting comfortably.

Thank you,
John Mills III and Courtney Mills
